12/05/2000 (Agence Europe) - Speaking to the press on Friday, Armand De Decker, speaker of the Belgian Senate, said that, "if there is no deepening at the end of the current Intergovernmental Conference" on the EU's institutional reform, "there will be no ratification" by the Senate of the treaty thus revised. We shall return to Mr. De Decker's suggestions concerning the European security and defence policy. Mr. De Decker was Chair of the WEU Assembly's Defence Committee.
