Commission exempts Eurovision from application of competition rules for sports events broadcasting

Brussels, 12/05/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has decided to grant an exemption, under Article 81 of the EC Treaty, from normal antitrust legislation, for rules applied by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) governing the joint acquisition and sharing of broadcasting rights for sports events in the framework of the Eurovision system.
