Monti's speech opens debate on future of exclusive distribution agreements - Arguments put forward by Commissioner, rejected by manufacturers

Brussels, 12/05/2000 (Agence Europe) - The regulation allowing for exclusive agreements between manufacturers and distributors of automobiles to benefit from exemption to European competition rules has "shown proof it works and there is currently no alternative", affirms the spokesman for the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (EAMA), Thierry Proteau, in response to the position taken by European Competition Commissioner Mario Monti against these agreements (see yesterday's...
