Selection rules for participants in international tournaments laid down by sports federations are not contrary to Community law

Luxembourg, 11/04/2000 (Agence Europe) - In its "Deliege" ruling, the Court of Justice declared that the selection rules for participants in international tournaments, laid down by sports federations, are not in themselves contrary to Community law. The European judges are thus responding to the Court of First Instance of Namur which has to rule in a case between a Belgian judoka, Christelle Deliege and the Ligue Francophone de Judo.
