Commission will not request urgent measures against France but is counting on a fast-track procedure in the Court of Justice

Brussels, 12/01/2000 (Agence Europe) - EUROPE has reason to believe that the European Commission concurred on Wednesday with the opinion of Health Commissioner David Byrne that there is no need to ask the Court of Justice to implement urgent measures (interim ruling) against France over this country's maintenance of the embargo on British beef.
