12/01/2000 (Agence Europe) - The CDU has officially declared its opposition to Turkey's admission to the European Union. A motion adopted on Saturday in Norderstedt by the party leadership states that "for countries whose territory is only partially located in Europe, accession solutions can be found, but not full accession". The EU "as a community of destiny, must not be extended excessively and fail due to a lack of support from the population", states the text.
