Brussels, 12/01/2000 (Agence Europe) - At its latest meeting, the Steering Committee of the International European Movement elected three new Vice-Presidents: former Irish Minister Alan Dukes and Members of the EP Catherine Lalumière (Socialist, France) and Giorgio Napolitano (Socialist, Italy). Former EPP Secretary General Thomas Jansen was elected Vice-President of the Executive Committee. The Steering Committee also set up five committees and appointed rapporteurs on the following subjects: i) follow-up of the IGC (Jean-Louis Bourlanges, EPP, France); ii) the Charter of Fundamental Rights (Marie-Claude Vayssade, former French Socialist Member of the EP); iii) "Development of Our Vision of European Construction" (Jo Leinen, Social Democrat, Germany); iv) the process of enlargement of the Union (Herbert Knoblich, President of the Brandenburg "Landtag" or regional parliament, SPD); and v) the common foreign and security policy (Alan Dukes).
