MEPs called to vote 13 October on criminalisation of migrant smugglers and treatment of humanitarian aid

After weeks of negotiations, on Monday 13 October, members of European Parliament’s Committee on Civil Liberties will be asked to vote on Birgit Sippel’s report on the directive to prevent and combat the facilitation of unauthorised entry, transit and residence in the EU (see EUROPE B13617A10).

One of the most sensitive aspects concerns humanitarian aid and the potential criminalisation of NGOs or individuals helping irregular migrants.
