10/10/2025 (Agence Europe) – The first negotiating meeting of the co-legislators on the directive on quality traineeships, initially scheduled for 14 October, will now be held in November, possibly during the first week, a source told Agence Europe on Friday 10 October. However, technical exchanges will start next week. This postponement is said to be due solely to scheduling constraints on both sides and to the need to prepare documents to launch the exchanges. Negotiations on this issue are nevertheless shaping up to be difficult, given that the balance struck at the EU Council in June to obtain a qualified majority is precarious. The European Parliament, for its part, adopted a proposal covering more trainees, with more protective provisions (see EUROPE 13726/15, 13663/2). (SP)
