10/10/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 10 October, the European Commission announced the addition of six new AI factories to the existing network, bringing the total number of AI factories to 19 distributed throughout 16 Member States (see EUROPE 13598/9). These new AI factories will be located in the Czech Republic, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Romania, Spain and Poland, and should pave the way for start-ups and SMEs to have access to AI-optimised supercomputers. This development is part of Europe’s drive to develop the EU’s capabilities in terms of artificial intelligence and access to it (see EUROPE 13706/7). A total of €2.6 billion has been committed to the initiative through the EuroHPC network. This deployment supports the AI Continent Action Plan (see EUROPE 13670/9) and complements the EU’s investment in AI gigafactories (see EUROPE 13618/10). (IS)
