On Friday 10 October, the European Commission adopted an implementing regulation providing emergency financial support totalling almost €50 million for agricultural sectors affected by adverse weather conditions in Bulgaria, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Poland and Romania.
This package, financed by the agricultural crisis reserve, includes €7.4 million for Bulgaria, €10.8 million for Hungary, €4.2 million for Latvia, €1.1 million for Lithuania, €14.8 million for Poland and €11.5 million for Romania. These countries can supplement this support from the European Union by up to 200%with national funds.
In all six Member States, late frosts, often followed by hail or heavy rain, destroyed large portions of the fruit, vegetable, nut and seed harvests.
Payments to farmers under the emergency financial support for Bulgaria, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Poland and Romania must be made before 30 April 2026. (Original version in French by Lionel Changeur)
