By just one vote (306 in favour, 305 against, 17 abstentions), the European Parliament followed the position of the Committee on Legal Affairs Committee in deciding not to waive the parliamentary immunity of Italian activist Ilaria Salis (The Left) on Tuesday 7 October (see EUROPE B13715A25).
“The immunity is not waived”, declared the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, after the vote, prompting a round of applause from the left of the Chamber.
