MEPs called for an end to all illegal trade in wild animals and plants in the EU by 2030, in a vote held by the European Parliament’s Committee on the Environment on Monday 6 October.
Adopted by 67 votes in favour, 8 against and 7 abstentions, this draft resolution comes ahead of the next United Nations global meeting on the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), to be held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, from 24 November to 5 December.
