Paris and Berlin intend to revive “Franco-German engine” to strengthen European sovereignty

On Wednesday 7 May in Paris, the new German Chancellor, Friedrich Merz, and the French President, Emmanuel Macron, expressed their desire to strengthen bilateral cooperation in order to contribute to the reinforcement of European sovereignty, on the occasion of Mr Merz’s first trip in his new role and on the eve of the 80th anniversary of the Second World War.
