11/04/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 11 April, the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas, repeated on behalf of the Union her call for a ceasefire in Sudan, where the armed conflict has now been going on for two years. The EU urges the warring parties to negotiate in good faith for a sustainable peace. It also calls on all countries “supplying arms and funds to the belligerents to cease their support immediately”. Kaja Kallas also expressed the EU’s concern about the “intentions expressed by the various actors to form governments unilaterally. A partition of the country must be prevented”. Lastly, it reaffirms Europe’s commitment to using diplomatic channels and all other instruments to seek a peaceful resolution to the conflict and a “lasting inter Sudanese inclusive political process reflecting the aspirations of the Sudanese people”.
