11/04/2025 (Agence Europe) – The European Commissioner for Trade, Maroš Šefčovič, will be in Washington on Monday 14 April to meet his American counterparts and continue negotiations with a view to reducing American and European customs tariffs, the European Commission’s Trade spokesman, Olof Gill, confirmed on Friday 11 April. Maroš Šefčovič has the broad support of the EU Member States, who hope that a solution can be found (see other news). The President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, also took part in the effort to persuade the Americans on Friday 11 April. At a meeting with a bipartisan congressional delegation in Brussels, she reiterated the importance of transatlantic trade and the need for a mutually beneficial solution. (LM)
