Glenn Micallef announces preparation of a communication to strengthen European sports model

The European Commissioner for Intergenerational Fairness, Youth, Culture and Sport, Glenn Micallef, took part in the 18th European Sports Forum, held in Krakow (Poland) on Thursday 10 and Friday 11 April.

This event, organised by the European Commission, brought together more than 350 participants from European and international sports bodies to discuss the current challenges facing sports and the priorities of the European Union.

On the first day, Glenn Micallef announced the preparation of a communication to strengthen the European sports model, scheduled for the second half of next year.

The Forum provided an opportunity to discuss a wide range of issues, including the well-being of athletes, the impact of artificial intelligence on sports, and the role of sports in education and EU enlargement. Discussions also focused on the financing and sustainability of sports. The aim was also to discuss the protection and development of this sector at the European level.
