On Thursday 10 April, the European Commission launched two consultations on the future European strategy for artificial intelligence (AI) in science. These include a call for evidence and a targeted questionnaire aimed at researchers and the research and innovation community as a whole.
“Europe needs to lead this transformation, so I invite the community to take part in the consultations and help design a strategy that supports European science as the bedrock of our competitiveness”, said European Commissioner for Startups, Research and Innovation Ekaterina Zaharieva in a press release.
The future strategy will aim to accelerate the responsible use of AI, facilitate its uptake by EU scientists and drive more effective and productive research in key areas such as climate change, health and clean technologies. It will pave the way for a European AI Research Council, which would pool resources for scientists.
Both consultations are open until Thursday 5 June.
