On Friday 11 April, the European Commission announced that it was opening a call for consultations on the revision of the EU Cybersecurity Act (CSA) from 2019.
The review will initially focus on the role and capacity for action given to the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA), as well as the European Cybersecurity Certification Framework.
In particular, this framework lays down the rules for adopting the various cybersecurity certificates, such as ‘EUCS’ (the European Cybersecurity Certification Scheme), and their scope (see EUROPE 13434/9).
According to the Commission, this consultation is a “first step towards simplifying European rules” on cybersecurity, “by streamlining reporting obligations”.
Interested parties – competent authorities in the Member States, cybersecurity authorities, industry and trade associations, researchers and consumer organisations – are invited to submit their opinions by 20 June.
