On Monday 13 May, the European Commission published new guidelines to support policymakers and educators, teachers and school leaders in improving well-being and mental health at school.
These are the first results of the dedicated group of experts set up by the European Commission.
These guidelines contain 11 recommendations and stress the importance of focusing on prevention and involving young people in shaping their learning experience. The guidelines also recommend, among other things, that policy-makers take into account the additional resources needed, on a long-term basis, for teacher training and professional development.
The European Commission highlights that the work of the expert group is part of the Pathways to School Success, an initiative of the European Education Area.
A final report is expected in June.
