13/05/24 (Agence Europe) – In a letter dated 10 May, the foreign ministers of 12 Member States (Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland and Sweden) called on the EU High Representative and the Commissioner for Enlargement to provide them with a report on the criteria that Georgia must meet in order to make progress in respect of the EU. In their opinion, regarding the law on the transparency of foreign influence, the Georgian government seems “on the verge of compromising their opportunity to advance the country’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration”. They are calling on the High Representative and the Commissioner “to provide a prompt oral update from the European Commission on how the proposed legislation would impact the implementation of the nine criteria” and to do so as a matter of priority in order that the assessment can be published before the final vote in the Georgian Parliament.
