On Monday 13 May, the Commission and Ofcom, the media regulator for the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, signed an administrative agreement to ensure proper coordination between the Digital Services Regulation (DSA) and the UK’s Online Safety Act.
The agreement should ensure closer cooperation between experts from both sides through technical dialogue, joint staff training and coordinated research projects, in order to maximise results and provide harmonised safety across the European continent.
In particular, the two laws govern the protection of minors online, the transparency of platforms, risk assessment and the impact of algorithms on the risks to society and the most vulnerable users.
In the European Union, the DSA has been in force since 17 February (see EUROPE 13402/2). (Original version in French by Isalia Stieffatre)
