The two investigations opened by the European Commission in April against two consortia participating in a Romanian call for tenders were enough for them to withdraw their bids (see EUROPE 13383/6). The two investigations will be closed following this withdrawal, the Commission said on Monday 13 May.
The two consortia were closely linked to China: the first includes the German subsidiary of the Chinese photovoltaic manufacturer LONGi Green Energy Technology. The second is made up of two subsidiaries belonging to the Chinese state-owned company Shanghai Electric Group.
In accordance with the Foreign Subsidies Regulation, both consortia had notified the Commission that they had received foreign subsidies.
This is the second and third time that a company or consortium has withdrawn its bid following the opening of an in-depth investigation by the Commission (see EUROPE 13380/21). (Original version in French by Léa Marchal)
