04/03/24 (Agence Europe) – With 27 votes in favour and one against, members of the European Parliament’s Committee on Transport and Tourism (TRAN) approved the provisional agreement with the EU Council on combating pollution from ships (see EUROPE 13352/6) on Monday 4 March. They also unanimously approved (29 votes) the provisional agreement with the Council on the investigation of maritime accidents (see EUROPE 13348/15). These two texts are part of the maritime safety package. Member States’ ambassadors to the EU (Coreper) approved these two provisional agreements on Wednesday 28 February (see EUROPE 13360/37). They still have to be approved by the European Parliament in plenary session before they can be definitively adopted.
