04/03/24 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission has opened a public consultation - between 1 March and 24 May 2024 - on a proposal to extend until 2027 the Euratom Research and Training Programme, which expires in 2025. The current programme has a budget of €1.4 billion (for the period 2021-2025). As part of this consultation, the Commission is evaluating three options. The first is to end EU support for nuclear research, which will continue only at national and regional level. The second provides for an extension of the regulation with “the same objectives, the same activities and the same mode of implementation” as the current programme. The third suggests a modified programme to ensure its relevance for the remaining two years. To see the consultation: https://aeur.eu/f/b43 (PLD)
