28/02/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 28 February, the Member States’ ambassadors to the EU (Coreper) endorsed the two provisional agreements with the European Parliament on combating ship-source pollution (see EUROPE 13352/6) and maritime accidents investigations (see EUROPE 13348/15). These two texts are part of the Maritime Safety Package. The day before, negotiators from Parliament and the Council of the EU reached a provisional agreement on two other texts in the package: port State control and compliance with flag State obligations (see EUROPE 13359/13). The final text in this package, on EMSA, will be discussed at the Transport Council in June (see EUROPE 13334/11).
