28/02/2024 (Agence Europe) – Meeting in plenary session in Strasbourg on Wednesday 28 February, MEPs overwhelmingly endorsed the text of the report by Anna Cavazzini (Greens/EFA, Germany) on reporting requirements, with 585 votes in favour, 9 against and 7 abstentions. This text, presented by the European Commission in October 2023, aims to “rationalise and simplify reporting obligations, with a view to eventually reducing these burdens by 25%”. More specifically, this regulation is intended to “simplify and eliminate certain reporting obligations in the area of the approval and market surveillance of agricultural and forestry vehicles and two or three-wheel vehicles and quadricycles”. Passed through the simplified procedure, the text was not amended by members of the Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection (IMCO), which is responsible for the substance of the text.
