Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul is to argue in favour of Turkey joining the EU at EPP Congress

Brussels, 04/02/2004 (Agence Europe) - Turkey's Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul is to meet members of the European Commission and the Congress of the European People's Party this week in order to defend Turkey's accession to the European Union (see p.4). The EPP's position was defined at its Estoril summit back in October 2002, EPP President Wilfried Martens recalled on Wednesday. He said "we want a special partnership" with Turkey.
