The French NEXANS company (turnover in 2003 of EUR 4.04 bn) specialist in telecommunication cables and energy has made a bid for Alcatel's fibre optics arm, in which he owns 15% of its capital. This sector obtained an annual turnover of EUR 175 million in 2003.
