04/02/2004 (Agence Europe) - the president (Irish Liberal) of the European Parliament Pat Cox regretted on Wednesday that John Hume (Northern Irish Labour Party, Member of the EP since 1979 and Nobel Prize winner) has decided not to stand as a candidate in the next European elections. Mr Cox declared that everyone at the European Parliament was proud of John Hume and his work and that they would miss him.
