Brussels, 27/11/2002 (Agence Europe) - The 250 members of the Assembly of European Regions will be meeting on 28-29 November in Naples for their annual general assembly, which will provide the occasion for debates on the European Convention and the future European cohesion policy after enlargement. AER will also be organising a seminar on the cooperation between the EU regions and those of Eastern European and developing countries.
More than 90 members from the Eurocities network of major European cities will be meeting up on 28-29 November in Barcelona for their General Assembly where there will also be core debates on the European Convention. Different workshops ill focus on the management of multicultural cities, the promotion of social cohesion, culture and new technology. Eurocities will also be awarding the 2002 prizes to three European cities in recognition of their action supporting cultural initiatives.
The French Association of the Council of Local and Regional Authorities of Europe (AFCCRE) and the European Movement-France will be organising "decentralised conferences" on the European Convention. After Annecy on 25 November, Lille (9 December), then Besançon (17 December), they will be organising a debate with the participation of Convention Members and local councillors.
