27/11/2002 (Agence Europe) - Greek and Turkish Foreign Ministers Georgios Papandreou and Yasar Yakis will meet in Ankara on 4 December, according to the Greek press agency ANA. During a telephone conversation, Mr. Yakis told his Greek counterpart that, for Turkey, the Annan plan for Cyprus could be the basis for negotiations, but that there needed to be "further analysis and clarification". Still according to ANA, AKP leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that "we accept the Annan plan as negotiable in the event we are given a date for beginning (EU) negotiations". In a telephone conversation with Mr. Yakis, Colin Powell stressed the importance Washington attached to a settlement over Cyprus.
