ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) insurance

The German group GERLING has sold GERLING GLOBAL RE (5.7 bn euro in premiums in 2001 for losses estimated at between 400 and 450 million euro with a workforce of some 1000 people), its reinsurance business, to a consortium of investors called LAGO ACHTE for 200 million euro. The reinsurance business represents 43% of GERLING's global turnover.
