Six companies suspected of forming cartel in carbon black sector

Brussels, 21/11/2002 (Agence Europe) - Amelia Torres, spokesperson for Competition Commissioner, Mario Monti, confirmed that the European Commission had begun surprise inspection on 19 November in the premises of six European companies in France, Germany, Italy and Spain. The companies are suspected of participating in a cartel in the carbon black sector, a thickener used for increasing resistance in tyres.
