21/11/2002 (Agence Europe) - Europe and Society will be organising a symposium on the theme of "Mergers-in Europe: improving the rules of the game?" on 26 November, in Paris. The aim of the symposium is to draw up a balance sheet of Community policies in this area, particularly in relation to the European Commission's aims and to highlight the trends revealed by the decisions and practices over recent years. It is also seeking to cast light on the possible conflicts of interest that could arise between the different objectives. This should allow for modifications to be proposed to the current policy and Merger Regulation (currently being reformed: Editor's note), in order to better respond to the objectives of the Union and citizens' aspirations.
