Negotiation of economic partnership agreements makes headway at ambassador level but ACP and EU are opposed to nature of first negotiating phase

Brussels, 07/11/2002 (Agence Europe) - One month after the formal opening of negotiations between the ACP countries and the Union for concluding economic partnership agreements (see EUROPE of 28 September, p.10), the two parties gave a more specific definition of the structure and content that they hope to give to negotiations, but the initial differences of opinion regarding the nature of the first phase of talks persists.
