Pöttering calls on EU to question Moscow on barriers to freedom of the press

Brussels, 18/04/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission should make immediate contact with President Putin and protest against the restrictions that have for some time hampered independent media in Russia, mainly the NTV television channel and the Sevodyna and Itogi dailies, states Hans-Gert Pöttering, President of the EPP-ED Group at the European Parliament, in a press release.
