ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) insurance

The Swiss insurer BALOISE (net profits of CHF 634 million in 2000) announced the sale of SEGUROS Y REASEGUROS (turnover of EUR 69 million in 2000), its Spanish activities to the Belgian-Dutch bank-insurer FORTIS without disclosing the amount. The Swiss group already previously withdrew from the French and Italian markets.
