18/04/2001 (Agence Europe) - On second reading on Wednesday, the Duma approved a bill temporarily authorizing the import of nuclear waste into Russia. This amendment to the law prohibiting such imports (and that remains in force) is, according to the polls, disputed by a large part of the population. The ministry for atomic energy said, for its part, that Russia could earn some $20 billion over ten years through the storage and treatment of this waste.
