18/04/2001 (Agence Europe) - Combined goods transport using road and rail has been increasing 7% on average over the past fifteen years in Europe, say the statistics of the Combined Transport Group of the International Union of Railways. According to figures diffused by the UIC this week, the volume of combined freight transport went from 80 million tonnes in 1986 to 180 million in 2000, in the EU, Switzerland and Norway.
