Order from President of Court of Justice on "ecopoints" should lead to Commission reduction in number of transit rights available in Austria in 2001

Brussels, 26/02/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission will probably have to reduce, in a drastic manner, the number of road transit rights through Austria - the ecopoints - available in 2001, following a ruling by the President of the Court of Justice made last week (see EUROPE of 24 February, p.11).

Last September, the Council adopted a regulation spreading over 3 years, between 2000 and 2003, a reduction in the number of transit rights compensating the increase in road traffic in...
