Three Member States challenged by Commission for failure to comply with Wild Birds and Habitats Directives

Brussels, 30/01/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has decided to proceed to the European Court of Justice against Belgium for failure to comply with the directives on wild birds (79/409/EC) and habitats (92/43/EEC). It has, moreover, sent reasoned opinions (second warning letter) to Italy and Spain for infringement of correct application of the provisions of these two texts.

In the case of Belgium, the decision concerns the fact that this country does not ensure the protection...
