30/01/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Parliament's Committee on Industry and External Trade took a stance in favour of the integration of Cambodia and Laos in ASEAN. It adopted reports that should be voted in plenary in February. Approving the report by Hansenne (EPP, B), MEPs noted recent democratic progress in Cambodia. When they adopted the Rübig report (EPP, D), however, they insisted on the need for this country to make further progress.
