European Commission sets out situation relating to charges against Professor Saad Ibrahim, indicted by Egyptian courts

Brussels, 13/12/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission considers that nothing warrants the indictments by the Egyptian courts against Professor Saad Ibrahim, that refer to his participation in projects of the Meda programme funded by the European Commission. These projects concern support for democracy and civil society; there is no reason to believe that there has been fraud or abuse.
