Aker Maritime decides not to take over Kvaerner - Commission drops in-depth investigation

Brussels, 13/12/2000 (Agence Europe) - The Norwegian firm Aker Maritime has decided not to take control of the Anglo-Norwegian firm Kvaerner, after the European Commission decided to initiate an in-depth investigation on the effect of this merger on the market of oil and gas platforms and maintenance services for these platforms (see EUROPE of 9 December, p.13).
