Speaking to Parliament, Ms de Palacio hopes for agreement in Council next week on Erika I package

Strasbourg, 13/12/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission is counting on the support of the European Parliament so that the European Union may announce to the whole world its determination to have its safety requirements in the maritime sector respected, said Transport Commissioner Loyola de Palacio, who presented the "Erika II Package" on maritime safety to the European Parliament on Wednesday evening.
