Brussels, 23/11/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commissioner for Competition, Mario Monti, defended - before the European Parliament's Economic Committee - his planned revision of EU policy in terms of agreements and monopolies against certain criticisms notably from American sources. These criticisms cover the possibility for the Commission to impose "structural remedies" in certain cases of abuse of dominant position.
