ECONOMIC INTERPENETRATION / (eu) agri-foods

French DANONE has confirmed its interest in American QUAKER OATS, while American COCA-COLA has announced it would not be continuing negotiation. The French group is now the only bidder left for the acquisition, now that PEPSI-COLA has dropped out. Its offer of $14 billion had, in fact, been considered insufficient by the QUAKER OATS directors. See EI of 22 November.
