23/11/2000 (Agence Europe) - The Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe has forwarded the request for membership, submitted by the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, to the Parliamentary Assembly whose opinion is essential for the rest of the procedure. It can take several months, years even (four for the case of Croatia, for example) for the Assembly to give its go-ahead. Meanwhile, the Assembly should rapidly complete examination of the request for the status of special guest....
