The US group II-VI has made a new rival bid of 2.89 dollars per share plus 0.052 of a II-VI share for each LPC - LASER POWER share in order to acquire the latter US company, which Belgium's UM - UNION MINIERE has also bid for. If the Board decides in favour of this new bid, UNION MINIERE will accept their verdict. EUROPE notes that UM and II-VI have been battling for control of LASER POWER for several weeks now.
